Q: How many years has the
Liberty Corn Maze been operating?
A: This is our second
year operating a corn maze.
Q: Was the maze planted in the
Kansas Speedway racing design?
A: No, it started as a
square field of corn, planted in a cross section pattern. The design was cut into the
field by Shawn Stolworthy of MazePlay, Firth, ID, using GPS mapping and a customized
cutting machine.
Q: How long did it take to cut
the maze?
A: It took Mr.
Stolworthy and his special machine about 2 days to cut over 15 miles of trails throughout
the 25 acre maze.
Q: How big is the maze?
A: The complete maze is
approximately 25 acres.
Q: Is it one big maze or are
there smaller mazes inside?
A: The Liberty Corn Maze
is made up of 4 separate mazes.
Q: How long is the longest
individual maze? The shortest individual maze?
A: The longest
individual maze is the 99 car measuring around 2.8 miles from start to finish. The
shortest individual maze is the race truck measuring around 1.25 miles.
Q: How long will it take to go
through the maze?
A: That will depend on
which maze(s) you choose to go through and the pace at which you walk. For an average
person to complete the longest maze it will take between an hour to one and a half hours.
Q: Will they be able to
harvest the corn once the maze is complete?
A: Yes, once the maze
closes after Halloween, they will remove the bridges, maps and water coolers and then
harvest the corn.
Q: What kind of new activities
does the maze have that will be new for the 2005 season?
A: There is a new
soybean maze that is about a mile long for younger mazers to complete sponsored by HyVee.
Other additions to this years maze include another bridge making five bridges with
currently over 375 feet of bridges, new tents to help accommodate groups and birthday
parties, and many new cutouts for picture opportunities.
